South Carolina's hot streak on the recruiting trail continues to pick up steam. On Thursday night, the Gamecocks landed their third addition to the 2027 recruiting class this week in landing four-star cornerback Kelvin Millington. The cornerback did so live at The Opening, a recruiting showcase during which Millington has performed well.
The prospect from Bogart, Ga., who plays high school football out of North Oconee, chose South Carolina over his other final schools, including Virginia Tech and Texas Tech.

South Carolina was the favorite to land the highly-touted cornerback recruit. Earlier this month, the Gamecocks booked an official visit with Millington after unofficially visiting Columbia in May. 247Sports had South Carolina with a 100% lock to land the cornerback ahead of his commitment on Thursday evening.
Here's some of Millington's scouting report, via 247Sports' Hudson Standish:
"Freakshow athlete with an outstanding blend of size, length, and leaping ability, along with extensive three-phase experience for one of Georgia's top AAAA programs. Turned heads at a loaded The Opening Atlanta regional, earning top performer honors, and saw his recruitment (two P4 offers entering the event) explode afterward. Possesses the disruptive traits to impact and redirect receivers within the first ten yards. Should be viewed as a lottery ticket defensive back who could blossom into a long-levered playmaker at the next level. Likely needs a few seasons of technical and physical development, but owns an athletic profile that screams NFL upside."
With Millington's commitment, he is now the lone cornerback in South Carolina's 2027 class, so this was a big need for the Gamecocks. The class now has 11 members. Prior to Millington's commitment, the class was ranked 61st in the country nationally, but that will certainly change with his commitment.
The cornerback visited South Carolina on June 5, as well as Texas Tech and Virginia Tech on June 12 and the 19th, respectively. He also holds offers from the likes of Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech and Wake Forest.
Millington is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 41 overall player in his position group, and the No. 42 overall prospect from his home state of Georgia.
For Coach Beamer, this could be an encouraging sign for South Carolina's 2027 class. It is the third commitment for the Gamecocks this week, as South Carolina added offensive lineman James Ross and flipped four-star wide receiver Iveon Lewis from Kentucky.
In the coming week, several other South Carolina targets will be announcing their commitments, such as five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson four-star offensive tackle Nate Carson and linebacker Jackson Ross.
Congrats to Millington on the commitment, and welcome to Columbia!
