The South Carolina Gamecocks are making some headway on the recruiting trail, folks. Just hours after adding three-star offensive lineman James Ross to his 2027 class, head coach Shane Beamer pulled off another flip of a big-time target, wide receiver Iveon Lewis.
Lewis announced his verbal commitment to South Carolina on Tuesday evening, flipping from Kentucky. Lewis had verbally committed to the Kentucky Wildcats earlier this month, but the Gamecocks didn't let that stop them from pursuing the talented wideout.

Just this past weekend, Lewis was announced as a late addition to South Carolina's visitor list, a sure sign that he was a flip target for the Gamecocks.
With Lewis' commitment, South Carolina's 2027 class jumps up six spots in the 247Sports Composite rankings to 61st nationally in the country. The outlet ranks Lewis as the No. 49 overall wideout from the class of 2027, and the No. 6 overall prospect out of his home state of Virginia.
Across two seasons tracked by MaxPreps, Lewis had 71 receptions for 1,736 yards with 24 touchdowns for Huguenot High School in Richmond, Va. Here 247Sports' Andrew Ivins' official scouting report of Lewis:
"Aces the eye-test with a sturdy 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame. Rolls out the gate and can overwhelm defensive backs with his momentum. Makes impressive adjustments on tosses towards the boundary and will get large when tracking over the middle on in-breaking routes. Tends to ignite after the catch and can shed tackles as he fights for yardage."
South Carolina could continue its hot recruiting streak, aas a number of big-name targets are set to commit over the next couple of weeks. The biggest is five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, who was also on-campus with Lewis over the weekend. He will announce his verbal commitment on July 1. Four-star offensive tackle Nate Carson will also announce his commitment on July 3.
Kudos to Coach Beamer for pulling off a major flip, and getting another win on the recruiting trail. Welcome home, Iveon!
