The South Carolina Gamecocks baseball program is getting hot on the recruiting trail, especially with respect to the transfer portal. New Gamecocks head coach Kevin Schnall has landed several prospects in the past week, including three on Monday alone. One of those who committed to South Carolina was outfielder Bristol Carter, who announced he would be joining the Gamecocks after spending the last two seasons at Auburn.

A native of Oak Ridge, North Carolina, Carter started his career at East Carolina as a true freshman in 2024. He had a huge season for the Pirates, batting .346 and making 46 starts as a true freshman. He was named a Second Team Freshman All-America by Perfect Game.

Carter announced his commitment to South Carolina via a post on his Instagram, as well as posting to his personal X page:

Following his big season, he transferred to Auburn. During his first season with the Tigers, he had a. 243 batting average and led Auburn with 14 stolen bases on the season. His last season with the Tigers was his best yet, batting .298 with 25 RBI and two home runs. He also finished with a career-high 31 stolen bases.

Coach Schnall had said previously that building an elite roster in South Carolina was one of his biggest priorities as he takes over in Columbia. Given all the talent he has landed so far, he has done just that in his first few weeks as South Carolina's coach.

Carter might not be the last big name that the Gamecocks land. South Carolina is also a favorite to end up with Coastal Carolina pitcher Cameron Flukey in the coming days.

Congrats to Carter on the commitment, and welcome to Columbia!
