The South Carolina Gamecocks had a huge last couple of weeks on the recruiting trail to end the month of June and start off July with a bang. Over the course of just a couple weeks, head coach Shane Beamer landed several blue-chip prospects, headlined by five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson.

In addition to Dobson, South Carolina anded four other blue-chip recruit to its 2027 class, including four-star wide receiver Iveon Lewis, who flipped from Kentucky, and four-star cornerback Kelvin Millington. On July 2, the Gamecocks also landed four-star safety Davion Jones, a teammate of Dobson's. South Carolina then landed a commit from four-star offensive tackle Nate Carson, beating out Clemson to do so, a day later.

With the latest haul for Beamer, let's take a look at where the Gamecocks' 2027 class now ranks nationally as well as inside the SEC.

South Carolina's 2027 recruiting class catupults up national rankings in recent weeks

The 247Sports Composite puts South Carolina's 2027 class at 28th nationally. Inside the SEC, the Gamecocks' class checks in at No. 11 within the conference, one spot above Arkansas and right behind Missouri's 10th-ranked class.

On3/Rivals has South Carolina's class ranking even higher nationally, checking in at 25th nationally. Inside the SEC, the outlet puts the Gamecocks at 10th, one spot ahead of Missouri and behind the ninth-ranked Kentucky.

Before South Carolina's class landed its latest commits, the 2027 class was rated around the mid-50s nationally. The Gamecocks also landed a pair of three stars in offensive lineman Will Clayton and linebacker Jackson Ross.

Given that we are still pretty early in the cycle, South Carolina shooting up the rankings has to be a positive sign for Beamer on the recruiting trail. Especially due to the Gamecocks' slow start with the class initially. Currently, South Carolina has 17 hard commits, so there is definitely room for plenty more.

Congrats to all the recent Gamecocks commits, and welcome home!
