Carson is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 6 overall prospect out of South Carolina, playing high school football out of Irmo High School in Columbia. 247Sports rates him as the No. 23 overall offensive tackle for 2027.
The offensive tackle took visits to his final list of schools in recent weeks, including. Clemson on May 29, Georgia on June 5, Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders on June 12, and South Carolina on June 19.
South Carolina has landed commits from four blue chips in the last two weeks
Head coach Shane Beamer has now landed four of the five prospects who visited South Carolina that same weekend, including five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson.
The Gamecocks have been on a recruiting heater as a result of the others who have committed who visited the 19th. Beamer has now landed verbal commits from the likes of four-star wide receiver Iveon Lewis, who flipped from Kentucky, as well as four-star cornerback Kelvin Millington, who was a big target for Virginia Tech. The lone miss was defensive lineman Marquis Evans, who committed to Auburn, as expected. The Gamecocks also added commits from offensive lineman James Ross and linebacker Jackson Ross, who are both rated as three-stars.
South Carolina's 2027 class already features two offensive tackles in three-star Clayton Lee, who committed just last week. It also includes four-star John Archer, who committed on April 29. Carson is now the highest-rated offensive tackle in the Gamecocks' 2027 class.
With Carson's commitment, South Carolina's 2027 class now ranks 33rd nationally, per 247Sports. On3/Rivals has the class rated even higher, checking in at 25th.
Here's a look at 247Sports' scouting report of Carson, via Gabe Brooks:
Well-rounded offensive lineman with tackle experience who could play multiple spots in the long run. Quite young for the 2027 cycle. Strong base aids in moving bodies off the line of scrimmage in the run game. Adequate kick slide and foot quickness to get out in space on the edge in pass protection. Displays encouraging consistency in hand placement as a pass blocker. Knows how to force edge rushers around the arc while limiting inside counter threat. Projects to the high-major level with potential to become a multi-year starter who could play beyond college.
Congrats to Carson on the commitment, and welcome home to the Gamecocks!
