The Gamecocks have officially landed in-state wide receiver Sequel Patterson in a huge 2026 recruiting win.

Shane Beamer added another explosive weapon to the arsenal for the 2026 roster with the dynamic four-star recruit officially announcing his commitment to the Gamecocks on Thursday night. Patterson is the ninth pledge in the class and becomes the sixth four-star to pledge. The 6-foot, 170-pound prospect from Indian Land, SC, who recently reclassified from the 2027 class, racked up over 1,200 all-purpose yards while also making plays on the defense. Patterson also had offers from Michigan, Texas A&M, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Virginia Tech, but he only took an official visit to Columbia.

After Patterson's official visit last weekend, he said, "It was an overall great experience to me. We got down here, met Coach Beamer, Coach Furrey, Mazeo, B Rowe, Murph… just bonded with the guys throughout the weekend.”

For wide receivers coach Mike Furrey, landing Patterson wasn't just about where he is ranked, it was about building relationships. “Me and coach, we have a great bond,” Patterson told GamecockCentral.com. “Obviously, he’s an experienced guy in the league, just a guy that I can see myself learning from. He’s been through some stuff in his life, and I have too. So, we kind of connect in that aspect. He’s just, like I said, a relatable guy because he’s been through what he’s showing us. He can actually drop down in the stance and show us what he’s talking about rather than just telling us because, like I said, he’s been through the fire, knows what he’s talking about, had some experience, played both sides like myself. So that’s how I connect with him.”

According to On3 Industry Ranking, Patterson listed as the No. 228 prospect nationally, regardless of position. He also ranked No. 5 in the state of South Carolina and is also a Top 10 athlete in the country. With Patterson now on board, South Carolina's 2026 class continues to surge.
