South Carolina Football: Gamecocks bring in 2nd commitment of the day
By Kevin Miller
South Carolina football entered Tuesday with just one player committed in the 2025 recruiting class. Wide receiver Jayden Sellers pledged himself to the Gamecocks back in October, and over the next 6 1/2 months, no one else followed suit.
On Tuesday, though, South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer posted his patented #WelcomeHome message on Twitter/X, and the fanbase was abuzz. It didn't take long at all before the new commitment revealed himself. 4-star wide receiver Brian Rowe became the second prospect to join the Gamecocks' 2025 recruiting class.
The social media festivities were not done for the day, though, as Beamer posted a second #WelcomeHome while many USC fans were sitting down for dinner.
The identity of commitment #2 has not yet been revealed, and no timeline is known for that reveal. In-state EDGE player Anthony Addison is set to announce his commitment on Friday, and many other players have been on campus in Columbia recently. Beamer did not include a picture of the South Carolina state flag in his tweet (his usual trademark for in-state commitments), indicating that the pledge probably isn't from the Palmetto State.
In the past, commitments have come in waves for the Gamecocks under Shane Beamer, and it appears that a wave is starting right now (at least, fans sure hope that is the case). With Tuesday's two #WelcomeHomes, Addison's pending announcement, the spring game coming in less than two weeks, and several other targets approaching decision-readiness, South Carolina football fans could be in line for a fair amount of recruiting news over the next month.
The Gamecocks still have another 10 days of spring practice remaining before the Garnet and Black Spring Game on April 20th. The spring game will be at 7:00 PM EST at Williams-Brice Stadium as the culmination of the Big Gamecock Weekend.
