On Wednesday, South Carolina football missed out on its first class of 2025 commitment when 4-star running back Justin Baker announced his college decision, choosing the Tennessee Volunteers over the Gamecocks and other programs.

However, Shane Beamer and company bounced right back on Thursday, securing a pledge from an in-state wide receiver in the ’25 cycle.

This commitment is not just any class of 2025 wide receiver, however. Jayden Sellers is the younger brother of current Gamecock freshman LaNorris Sellers. The elder Sellers is believed to be the quarterback of the future in Columbia, and the addition of “Puppy” Sellers to the program can only increase the brotherly love theme that Beamer emphasizes in his program.

Jayden Sellers announced his commitment to the program with an announcement to his personal page on X/Twitter.

According to On3, Sellers is a 3-star prospect who is in his junior year at South Florence High School, the same school his brother took to a state championship last season. As a wide receiver, the younger Sellers will most likely play in the slot as he is a smaller receiver whose game is predicated on speed and quickness.

Listed at 5’11” and 170 pounds, he has room to grow physically, but he has real speed already as a high school junior. If he can grow a bit more while keeping his speed, he could end up as an outside receiver, as well, as he is competitive on balls in the air and excels at setting up defensive backs with double moves.

Like his older brother, Jayden Sellers is a nice kid, but when he gets on the field, he is a fierce competitor. He is a tough runner for someone as slight as he is, and he plays with fire and aggression. He is small but a willing blocker, a skill that he should only improve as he gets stronger.

Sellers is having a very good junior season for South Florence where he plays anywhere on the offense where he can get the ball in his hands easily. He lines up inside, outside, in the backfield, and even as a wildcat quarterback for the Bruins.

He is the first commitment for South Carolina football in the class of 2025, but perhaps his future quarterback (after his brother, of course) might be in the next class as ’26 QB Landon Duckworth committed to the program in August.
