In-state receiver runs ridiculous 40 time at South Carolina football camp
By Kevin Miller
With three wide receivers committed to USC so far in the class of 2025 (Jayden Sellers, Brian Rowe, and Lex Cyrus) but with at least four receivers out of eligibility after this year, it seems likely that the Gamecocks will look to add another player or two at the position before the 2025 season begins. Carolina could fill those scholarship spots with transfer portal recruiting, but finding another high school prospect in the class of 2025 is not out of the realm of possibility.
On Friday, South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer and his staff began a huge recruiting weekend with a bunch of committed and uncommitted talent on campus. Early in the day, players camped and worked out for the coaches. One receiver who has not been on many fans' radars had a couple of eye-popping moments.
Class of 2025 wideout Jackson Repp, a 5'8" ball of lightning at the wide receiver position, showed off some impressive wheels during workouts. The Christ Church Episcopal School product looked fast in the clips he shared online of his performance, but when he ran his 40-yard dash, he verified that his speed is legitimate.
According to Repp, he ran 40-yard dash times in the 4.25-4.3 range on Friday.
For reference, Xavier Legette, a player who ran one of the fastest on-field times in college football last year, ran a 4.39 at this year's NFL Combine. Fellow receiver Xavier Worthy ran a 4.21 for the fastest recorded time in modern NFL Combine history. In other words, Jackson Repp is really fast.
As a player, Repp looks like a video game creation on film. Though he is small, he is simply too fast to be caught by his opponents at the 1A high school level of South Carolina football. He will have the chance to prove himself against higher competition as a senior, however, as Christ Church has been bumped up all the way to the 4A level.
At this point, there has been no official offer from the Gamecocks to Repp. He holds offers from Boston College, Georgia State, and two of the Service Academies, but if his production holds up in 2024 against a higher level of opponent in the 4A classification, Jackson Repp could become a name to watch for South Carolina football fans.
