The South Carolina football coaching staff ended their recruiting "drought" in a big way over the last two weeks. The Gamecocks moved from having just one commitment in the class of 2025 to have six announced pledges (including four who are rated as 4-star prospects by at least one national recruiting service) and one #WelcomeHome who has not identified himself yet.
The first commitment of this recent wave came from Concord, North Carolina wide receiver Brian Rowe. Rowe is a 4-star receiver according to ESPN who has shown a lot of athleticism on film that indicates he has a high potential as a player.
This weekend, Rowe showed off some of his potential at the Carolina Coaches Combine in Asheville, North Carolina. In front of coaches, scouts, and trainers, Rowe was the top weapon at the CCC, bringing home the Offensive MVP trophy at the event's end.
It should come as no surprise to Gamecock fans that Rowe was selected as the Offensive MVP as he has all the tools to be a very good receiver in the SEC.
He has above-average speed, quickness, and explosion for the position, and his leaping ability is otherworldly. Rowe's dynamic athleticism allows him to be a threat at every level as he has had success at the high school level in the quick game, on short and intermediate routes, with deep balls, and in 50-50 opportunities with the ball in the air.
The future Gamecock will have a chance to continue showing off in front of coaches, scouts, and trainers as he will be at the Under Armour Next camp in Charlotte next month.
As of now, Rowe is one of two class of 2025 wide receiver commitments for the South Carolina football program, along with Palmetto State native Jayden Sellers (the younger brother of Gamecock quarterback LaNorris Sellers).
