The recruiting news just keeps on coming for the South Carolina football program. In the month of June, the Gamecocks landed public commitments from linebacker/defensive back Jaquel Holman, EDGE Kobby Sakyi-Prah, defensive back Chris Hatfield, tight end Preston Douglas, linebacker AJ Holloway, offensive lineman Shed Sarratt, and kicker/punter Max Kelley, and a couple of others have committed to the program behind the scenes.

On Thursday night, another name came forward with an announcement that he was pledging his services to the Gamecocks.

4-star class of 2025 EDGE prospect Jaquavious Dodd committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks over offers from the Virginia Tech Hokies, Virginia Cavaliers, and a bevy of smaller programs. He is the third EDGE commitment for USC in the '25 cycle, but Carolina doesn't appear to be done at the position as they still are involved with several other talented pass rushers.

Dodd is ranked as high as 139th nationally and as high as 2nd in the state of South Carolina by On3. On3 and Rivals both have him rated as a 4-star prospect based on his tremendous upside.

Dodd is a developmental prospect who hasn't played much football yet. Having started playing the game after entering high school, he has tons of potential as a plus-athlete with elite length. While he likely won't contribute much as a true freshman, the 6'5"/6'6" Eastside High School product could develop into a big-time college player if things go well for him.

As a player, Dodd's size potential and athleticism make him an intriguing player to watch on film. He has plays where he flashes some impressive ability as a pass rusher, and as he gains muscle mass and experience, he will get better and better against the run.

Even with his short history as a player, Dodd was productive last fall as a junior, and with another good year for Eastside as a senior, he could propel himself nicely into his college career.
