The South Carolina Gamecocks are looking to build off their big win over the Tennessee Volunteers last week. Head coach Shane Beamer did just that on the recruiting trail, as four-star defensive lineman Nate Kamba flipped from Auburn to South Carolina's 2027 class just hours after the win over the Vols.

Kamba, out of Charlotte, N.C. is rated as the nation's No. 30 overall defensive lineman in his class, and checks in at No. 10 overall out of his home state of North Carolina.

With his commitment, South Carolina's 2027 recruiting class, which has 18 members, now ranks 27th overall in the country per the 247Sports Composite. Per 247, the class ranks 11th overall in the SEC behind Kentucky and Tennessee, and one spot ahead of Vanderbilt in the conference.

Per Rivals/On3, the Gamecocks' 2027 class ranks slightly higher, checking in at No. 22 nationally. Inside the SEC, Shane Beamer's 2027 class checks in 10th overall, in front of Tennessee and Missouri, and one spot behind the Kentucky Wildcats.

With Kamba's flip, South Carolina will look to go on a run like it did in July on the recruiting trail. In the span of a couple weeks over the summer, the Gamecocks landed big time prospects like five-star Joshua Dobson safety Davion Jones, offensive tackle Nate Carson and three-star defensive end Jayden Broadie.

4-star QB Anthony Turner down to final 9 schools, including South Carolina

In fact, Kamba's commitment is the first for the Gamecocks since landing Broadie on July 4. If South Carolina finishes the season strong in games against remaining opponents in Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Georgia and Clemson, it could add a few more members before the Early Signing Period rolls around in December.

South Carolina was one of the very first schools to offer Kamba, extending one to the defensive lineman in January of 2025. It was his second offer, right behind Ohio State, which was the first. Koba took official visits over the summer to NC State as well as Auburn. He had been committed to Tigers head coach Alex Golesh since mid-June.
