The South Carolina Gamecocks had an early exit in the SEC Tournament earlier this week, falling 2-0 to Ole Miss in the first round. While the Rebels went on to beat Tennessee but lose to Texas in the quarterfinals, South Carolina had simply to sit and wait for its postseason fate.

Ahead of Sunday evening's selection show, Softball America's Brady Vernon released his final regional projections, including where the Gamecocks will play next.

The outlet has South Carolina getting a No. 7 seed, and traveling to Lincoln, Neb. to take on the hosting Nebraska Cornhuskers. Also included in the Lincoln regional is Boston University and Howard University. That's good news for the Gamecocks, who have familiarity with both the Cornhuskers and B.U.

The Gamecocks took on both squads earlier in the season in February, facing Boston in the Carolina Classic in Columbia, and playing Nebraska in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic the same month. South Carolina beat Boston twice, showing off some impressive offense in both victories, winning 6-2 and 6-1.

Against Nebraska, South Carolina fell 9-1. But the Cornhuskers are having a heck of a season, coming off a victory over UCLA to win the Big Ten Tournament title on Saturday.

But South Carolina will have the benefit of familiarity going on the road, if the projections shake out as expected.

Sunday evening's selection show is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. ET, airing live on ESPN2.
