What's to come for the South Carolina Gamecocks this season? People can't wait to find out, as the expectations are high for Shane Beamer and Co. Not only that, but LaNorris Sellers has people dreaming of a big campaign being on the way.
Sellers is without question one of the top quarterbacks in the country and he's got serious Heisman Trophy hype surrounding his name. This team is going to go as far as he can take them. With that said, the over/under wins total for USC is at 7.5. Will South Carolina top that number or fail to reach expectations? In this piece, we've got our game-by-game predictions for you.
Game 1: South Carolina vs. Virginia Tech - win
Game 2: South Carolina vs. South Carolina State - win
Game 3: South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt - win
Game 4: South Carolina at Missouri - win
Game 5: South Carolina vs. Kentucky - win
Game 6: South Carolina at LSU - loss
Game 7: South Carolina vs. Oklahoma - win
Game 8: South Carolina vs. Alabama - loss
Game 9: South Carolina at Ole Miss - loss
Game 10: South Carolina at Texas A&M - win
Game 11: South Carolina vs. Coastal Carolina - win
Game 12: South Carolina vs. Clemson - loss
As you can see, we've got the Gamecocks starting off the season red hot at 5-0. With those wins to start off the year, look for Beamer and his playmakers to be ranked among the Top 15 squads in the country, which will provide a TON of early-season buzz.
However, things will get shaky after that. We're predicting the Gamecocks to lose three of their next four games, falling to LSU, Alabama and Ole Miss. In between that, though, look for South Carolina to take down John Mateer and the new-look Oklahoma Sooners.
To close out the campaign, the Gamecocks will beat Texas A&M and Coastal Carolina, but the season will end with a loss to Dabo Swinney and the mighty Clemson Tigers. USC will finish the fall 8-4, but fall short of reaching the College Football Playoff. Sellers will be a Heisman Trophy Finalist, but Arch Manning will take home the honors. Will our predictions be on the money? We'll find out later this year.
