Losing a verbal commitment on the recruiting trail is never fun. For South Carolina's 2027 recruiting class, the Gamecocks could be on the verge of losing yet another commit, following 4-star cornerback Aamaury Fountain's flip from South Carolina to Florida over the weekend.

247Sports has officially updated its crystal ball prediction for four-star receiver Jaiden Kelly-Murray, who committed to South Carolina on March 13, as a 100% lock to land at Virginia Tech:

Kelly-Murray, ranked as the No. 35 overall receiver from the class of 2027, has been on James Franklin and the Hokies' radar since he committed to the Gamecocks last month. Just a few days after he committed to South Carolina's class, VT offered him, and he has an official visit scheduled for Blacksburg set for May 29.  He is ranked No. 6 overall out of South Carolina, so not being able to keep the receiver close to home and letting him go elsewhere would add more salt to the wound. The receiver hails from Oceanside Collegiate Academy in Mount Pleasant, S.C.

His South Carolina visit is on the books for June. Losing Kelly-Murray's commitment would be less than ideal. It would shrink the Gamecocks' 2027 class to just two members, and would put South Carolina behind the eight ball entering the summer months. South Carolina's three-member class currently ranks 49th nationally and 12th overall in the SEC.

We'll see if the prediction turns out to be right. Virginia Tech's 2027 class ranks 58th overall nationally with two verbal commits currently.
