South Carolina basketball head coach Lamont Paris is hoping to inject some confidence in his program this offseason, following a 13-19 season in Columbia.
Well on Friday, Coach Paris did just that as he landed the nation's No. 16 overall point guard in the transfer portal in Kory Mincy. Mincy, a 6-foot-2 junior from East Point, Ga., spent this past season at George Mason, and is rated as a 4-star transfer portal player.
Mincy led the Patriots in scoring during the 2025-26 season, averaging 14.3 points per game and adding 3.6 rebounds with 2.9 assists per contest. George Mason finished 23-10 on the season, falling 63-57 to St. Bonaventure in the A-10 conference tournament. The rising senior guard received Second-Team All-Atlantic 10 honors. He entered the portal earlier this week.
One of Mincy's best games this past season came during a 96-90 win over Winthrop in November, as he scored a season-high 29 points and shot 56% from the floor. He had six other games with over 20 points on the year.

Mincy averaged 14.3 PPG, 3.6 REB and 2.9 AST per night. He also put up great splits of 44/39/89. A efficient high volume scorer in… pic.twitter.com/I39yKGOyqJ

Mincy spent the first two seasons of his career at Presbyterian, and was the Blue Hose's second-leading scorer in 2024-25, getting 15 points per game. As a true freshman in 2023-24, he was selected as a Big South All-Freshman, playing in 33 games with 11 starts, averaging six points per game.
247Sports ranks Mincy as the No. 68 overall prospect in this year's transfer portal. He played high school basketball at Coming out of Tri-Cities High School in Atlanta, Ga., and Presbyterian was his only offer.
Mincy's addition is great news for Coach Paris and the South Carolina Gamecocks, which saw six players enter the portal in the last week.
