In what could be a busy recruiting weekend in Columbia, S.C., the Gamecocks added to their 2027 recruiting class on Friday night. Head coach Shane Beamer and South Carolina landed a verbal commitment from three-star tight end Judah Lancaster. The news was first reported On3's Hayes Fawcett:

"Just the connection that everybody that I have, the plan that they have for me. Coach , going into my junior season in the fall, he came to see me, Lancaster said of his commitment via Gamecock247. And then he told me he really liked me, really liked what I was doing."

Lancaster is rated as the nation's No. 41 overall ranked tight end for 2027, and the No. 34 prospect out of his home state of Tennessee. He holds offers from the likes of several big-time schools in Alabama, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon and Ole Miss. Georgia He is the first tight end added to the Gamecocks' 2027 class, joining four-stars in safety Jerard Albright and defensive lineman John Archer III.

"Since that day, he stuck with the plan of recruiting me. He's been saying the same thing to me since then, that he wanted me to be the next South Carolina tight end, so that was a big then. And then obviously the environment of Columbia is different."

The class also features three-star quarterback Jerry Meyer III from Texas, offensive lineman Will Endicott and recently-added receiver DJ Huggins. South Carolina is expected to host a number of visitors this weekend, including Lancaster, so it could be the start of a busy recruiting weekend for the Gamecocks.

With Lancaster's commitment, South Carolina's 2027 class jumps up to being ranked 41st nationally in the country. Over two seasons tracked by MaxPreps, Lancaster accounted for 10 receptions for 103 yards with 103 yards and three touchdowns.
