The hits keep coming for South Carolina's 2027 recruiting class. On Monday, Shane Beamer's class lost yet another verbal commitment in four-star receiver Jaiden Kelly-Murray. The news was first reported by On3's Hayes Fawcett:

The news comes just a few days after 247Sports reported that Kelly-Murray was a 100% crystal ball prediction to end up at Virginia Tech, joining James' Franklin's 2027 Hokie class. The receiver had committed to South Carolina on March 13, so his commitment lasted just a month. The talented receiver will have a slew of schools to choose from, holding offers from 40 schools, including Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Penn State and several others. He is ranked as the No. 35 wideout for 2027, and ranks No. 6 overall from the state of South Carolina.

Kelly-Murray's loss is a big one for South Carolina's 2027 class. The Gamecocks now have just two verbal commits in the class, in three-star safety Jernard Albright and three-star quarterback Jerry Meyer III.

Kelly-Murray is the Gamecocks' second decommit in just the matter of a few days. On April 11, South Carolina lost four-star cornerback Aamaury Fountain to a fellow SEC program, Florida.

With the loss, South Carolina's class for 2027 will likely tumble out of the top-100 completely, checking in at 57th nationally prior to Kelly-Murray's decommitment.

Beamer and company will likely have to make up some major ground over the summer months to get the 2027 class back on track. It's still early in the cycle of course, but losing two blue-chip guys over the matter of just a few days isn't what South Carolina fans were hoping for. Especially following a 4-8 2025 season.
