WNBA All-Star Game to feature three South Carolina basketball alums

Just like last year, the WNBA All-Star Game will feature three South Carolina basketball alums as A'ja Wilson, Aliyah Boston, and Allisha Gray were selected.

The WNBA All-Star Game is coming up on July 20th, and Dawn Staley's South Carolina basketball program will be well-represented.

A'ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces), Aliyah Boston (Indiana Fever), and Allisha Gray (Atlanta Dream) all will play in the game, which will be played in the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona (home of the Phoenix Mercury and Phoenix Suns).

Boston finished 2nd in overall WNBA All-Star Game voting (behind her rookie teammate Caitlin Clark), and Wilson was 3rd. Because of her place on Team USA, Wilson will play with the United States National Team against the other All-Stars, including Boston and Gray, a change from last season when the three former South Carolina basketball stars played on the same team.

On the season, Wilson, the runaway favorite to win her third MVP honor this season, will play in her sixth All-Star Game as she is averaging 26.9 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.9 steals on 51.1%/38.1%/85.2% shooting splits. She has been selected as an All-Star in every season of her career that had an All-Star Game (there was no ASG in 2020).

Boston, who will participate in her second All-Star Game in her second season in the WNBA, has overcome a slow start to the year to average 13.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 0.8 steals per game on 49.1%/46.2%/69% shooting splits.

Gray also will be taking part in her second WNBA All-Star Game. The 8-year pro is putting up 15.6 points, 4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1 steal, and 0.6 blocks per game this season on 41.6%/40%/79.1% shooting splits.
