The first couple of weeks of the WNBA season were tough for Aliyah Boston. The former South Carolina basketball star was taking a backseat to rookie Caitlin Clark in the offense, and the less-involved role had negative consequences on her game and her Indiana Fever team.

Recognizing the need for change, the Fever made Boston a bigger part of the game plan over the last week, and the results were immediate.

In three games from Monday, June 10th through Sunday, June 16th, Aliyah Boston went off in three excellent showings.

Boston posted three double-doubles (she had 1 in the other 12 games of the season), scoring an average of 20 points per game, rebounding an average of 13 rebounds per game, dishing out nearly 4 assists per game, blocking 2 shots per game, and shooting 58% from the floor. She also managed just 2 fouls per game and less than 2 turnovers per game.

The tremendous bounceback week for Aliyah Boston earned her a major honor from the WNBA. On Tuesday, it was announced that she was the recipient of the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week award as the best performer last week in the Eastern Conference. It is the second time Boston has won the Player of the Week award as she brought home that particular trophy back in June of her 2023 rookie season.

Fellow South Carolina basketball legend and Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson has won a WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week honor this season and a WNBA Western Conference Player of the Month. Both Wilson and Boston have realistic shots of earning the Conference Player of the Month award for June in the Western and Eastern Conferences, respectively. Wilson is the odds-on favorite to win the WNBA MVP award for the third time this season, and both she and Boston are likely WNBA All-Stars.
