South Carolina Football: Gamecock commitment picks up showcase MVP again
By Kevin Miller
South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer and his coaching staff have brought in a lot of new names into the Gamecocks' class of 2025 recruiting class this spring. The first commitment of the spring (and second overall) in the '25 cycle was wide receiver Brian Rowe.
Rowe, an explosive athlete from North Carolina, joined Jayden Sellers (the younger brother of USC starting quarterback LaNorris Sellers) as a wideout pledge in the class. Rated as a 4-star prospect by ESPN (and rising in the rankings from other recruiting services), Rowe has a high ceiling as an athletic playmaker who can impact a game in a variety of ways.
Earlier this offseason, Rowe brought home offensive MVP honors from the Carolina Coaches Combine, and this weekend, he made sure that wasn't the only hardware he received on the showcase circuit.
Participating in the Under Armour Next camp in Charlotte, North Carolina, Rowe was named the wide receiver MVP of the event. He shared the news online after winning the honor on Mother's Day.
Rowe is a likely candidate to continue moving up in the recruiting world. He is a big-time athlete who plays much larger than his 6'0", 175-pound frame would indicate.
His background as a basketball player is evident when one watches his film. Rowe is an impressive leaper who seems to have no rival when the ball is in the air. However, his explosion is not limited just to jumping. With quickness and straight-line speed at his disposal, as well, Rowe is a solid playmaker in the quick game, too.
Rowe has had success as a special teams contributor in high school, something that undoubtedly appeals to a special teams-minded coach like Shane Beamer. Rowe has been a menace as a punt returner, and he has the makeup of a player who could be useful on coverage units, as well.
