South Carolina football is having a big week in recruiting as Gamecock head coach Shane Beamer has dropped three separate #WelcomeHome posts in the past four days. On Tuesday, 4-star wide receiver Brian Rowe came forward as one of the USC pledges, on Wednesday, in-state safety Damarcus Leach revealed his commitment to the Gamecocks, and on Friday, Carolina fans discovered the identity of Beamer's most recent commitment tease.

During most fans' lunch break, Sumter outside linebacker/defensive end prospect Anthony Addison announced his commitment to the South Carolina Gamecocks over the Tennessee Volunteers and Duke Blue Devils.

Addison is an athletic EDGE player who likely will put on some weight to become a full-time defensive end at the college level. There is a chance Addison could follow in the footsteps of fellow hybrid EDGE players like Fred "JayR" Johnson and Wendell Gregory (both in the class of 2024) and start his South Carolina football career at linebacker, but based on almost all of his experience in high school, defensive end seems more likely.

Addison has a good first step and straight-line speed as a pass rusher, and when run plays go away from him, he is always a threat to chase down the ball carrier from behind. Addison has plus-length, and he uses his arms well to disrupt offensive linemen's hands and get around them to make a play.

The Sumter Gamecock is now in position to be a South Carolina Gamecock, and he is the second defensive player to commit to the program in the 2025 recruiting class (after safety Damarcus Leach). He will join an EDGE room that has a lot of young talent but will lose some veteran contributors in the next year or two, opening up potential early playing time.
