4-star South Carolina football target announces college choice

South Carolina football recruiting efforts always have been intertwined with the prospect pursuits of the Georgia Bulldogs. Historically, the Dawgs have gotten the better of the 'Cocks more often than not in those recruiting battles, and on Monday, another USC-UGA battle came to a close in favor of the red and black.
4-star Georgia offensive lineman Dontrell Glover, who had put both the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Georgia Bulldogs on his top-4 schools list last month, announced his decision to commit to Kirby Smart and Bulldogs.
Glover's decision shouldn't have come as that much of a surprise. When the University of Georgia makes a Peach State native a priority, they typically land that player, especially in recent years. Smart and the Bulldogs made Glover's recruitment an important one, and now, the big offensive lineman is on his way to Athens after his high school graduation.
For the South Carolina football program, there already is one offensive line prospect committed in the 2025 cycle as 4-star offensive lineman Shed Sarratt pledged his services to Shane Beamer's program earlier in June. Carolina also is involved with several other major recruits in the class of 2025. In-state interior offensive lineman Anthony Baxter is committed to the Gamecocks in the class of 2026, as well.
The Gamecocks and Bulldogs are not done locking horns for prospects in the class of 2025. Current South Carolina football commit Shamari Earls (4-star cornerback) is being pursued by Georgia, and the two teams also are both among the top schools for prospects like Isaiah Gibson (5-star EDGE), Kevin Wynn (4-star defensive tackle), Bryce Davis (4-star EDGE), Zavion Hardy (4-star JuCo defensive lineman), Lagonza Hayward (4-star safety), Juan Gaston (4-star offensive tackle), Cortez Smith (4-star offensive lineman), and others.
The Gamecocks are hoping for good recruiting news on Tuesday as athletic EDGE prospect Teashawn Alston is set to announce his decision.
