South Carolina football has recruited better on the offensive line in recent seasons than at almost any other time in program history.
"The Great Wall of Columbia," as the young offensive line prospects on the squad have been called, has already started making an impact on the team as Tree Babalade, Tro Baugh, and Cason Henry started some last year as freshmen (Henry was a redshirt freshman), and true freshman Josiah Thompson appears ready to be in the 2-deep this year.
The Gamecocks have a lot of talented players they are recruiting on the offensive line (including class of 2026 commitment Anthony Baxter), and several of the uncommitted prospects have recently revealed that they are nearing the end of their recruitments.
One such offensive lineman has cut his list of suitors down to just four. 4-star lineman Dontrell Glover, a Georgia native, revealed on Tuesday that the South Carolina Gamecocks, Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers, and Florida State Seminoles are the only schools remaining in the running for his services. He was previously committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide before the legendary Nick Saban retired from coaching.
As a player, Glover has spent time at both guard and tackle in his high school career, but his future is almost assuredly on the interior at the college level.
Though his overall technique and pad level could use some college coaching, Glover is strong and has good feet, indicating that he has a bright future ahead of him. When he is engaged with a defender, he stops them in their tracks or puts them on their backs. He also has solid horizontal movement ability, a useful trait in reach blocks and pass protection when uncovered.
As a run blocker, Glover has the potential to grow into a road grader, and his physical tools make pass blocking a likely positive in his future, as well.
