Harbor & Sellers Represent the South Carolina Gamecocks on The Athletic's "Freak List" for 2025

The Athletic released its college football Freak List for 2025, and the South Carolina Gamecocks are represented well. Where did Nyck Harbor and LaNorris Sellers rank among the Top 101 freakiest athletes in college football?

There are athletes, and then there are freak athletes. The Athletic released its 2025 college football freaks list and ranked the 101 freakiest in terms of their abilities. They did not leave it to FBS schools only; they also included FCS schools. However, the most important names among the Top 101 were the two South Carolina Gamecocks who made the list. As it comes as no surprise, Gamecocks wide receiver Nyck Harbor and quarterback LaNorris Sellers made the Top 101, and rightfully so.

The first to make the rankings for the Gamecocks was Harbor, who came in at No. 3 on the Top 101 freaks list. Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith and Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor were the only two to beat out Harbor. According to Bruce Feldman, the man who has been working on the Freaks List since 2005, Harbor is the first-ever back-to-back player at the number one spot. It makes sense to have him in the top three again, just on the size and speed Harbor brings alone.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound speedster topped out at 23.6 MPH at one point during the 2024 season for the Gamecocks. That's some serious speed for the junior wideout who looks to be more impactful in 2025 for the Gamecocks. Harbor is so quick that he ran a 10.11 in the 100-meter for the track team, and this is a guy who can outjump opponents. He had 376 yards receiving on 26 catches and three touchdowns in 2024, and is poised to crack 500-plus yards and five-plus touchdowns this upcoming season.

Harbor is someone teams will have to worry about, especially when the guy who's throwing him the ball is also a freak athlete in his own right. Two freak players on the same offensive side of the ball should be an advantage the Gamecocks use all season in 2025.

Sellers came in at No. 33 on the Top 101 freak athlete list, and for what he can do, it's no wonder the Gamecocks quarterback makes the top half of the ranking. The sophomore gunslinger had a solid freshman season in 2024 for the Gamecocks. He threw for 2,534 yards, while having 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions. If that was not enough, he also ran for 674 yards and seven touchdowns. Sellers alone had 25 touchdowns, either through the air or on the ground.

When you're 6-foot-3, 245-pounds, you can pretty much do whatever needs to be done to get the first down for the Gamecocks. Sellers clocks in at 22 MPH when in a dead spring, some insane speed for a quarterback. Per head coach Shane Beamer, Sellers is only scratching the surface of what his potential could look like. It's a scary thing to think about for opposing teams trying to tackle Sellers.

If you have a quarterback who can squat 555 pounds, good luck trying to sack him. Combining Sellers' physical abilities and what Harbor can do on the outside, it'll be tough to keep these two contained on the field. The fact that Habor and Sellers came in at No. 3 and 33 on the 2025 CFB Freaks List proves that the Gamecocks have something special brewing in Columbia.
