The buzz around Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Football program continues to build this offseason, and there are some major national voices adding fuel to the fire in Columbia. On the latest episode of The Triple Option podcast, three-time national champion Urban Meyer and Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram praised the Gamecocks and their QB1, LaNorris Sellers.

The show opened with a sit-down interview between Sellers and the podcast co-hosts Ingram and Rob Stone. And true to his nature, Sellers remained humble and focused, brushing off the ever-growing national hype. Sellers explained how the Gamecock squad is only focused on one thing heading into the 2025 season: improvement.

“We’re not trying to focus on [the attention] too much,” Sellers said. “We’ve just got to keep it up, bring it again this season.” And if they do? Sellers didn’t shy away from big goals: “The Playoff is definitely in play.”

Sellers also spoke about how he has worked hard in the offseason to sharpen his skills, especially when it comes to the fundamentals of football. “Anticipation, footwork… I’m just building off the mistakes from last year.”

Ingram highlighted the impressive statistic that puts Sellers in elite company: he is only one of three freshmen in history to throw for 2,500 yards and rush for 500 yards in a single season. Sellers joins Jalen Hurts and Johnny Manziel in that category.

LaNorris Sellers believes in the Gamecocks. The fans believe in him. And the national media is starting to believe. Sellers is poised and focused. Shane Beamer has the culture right in Columbia, and Gamecock Nation is ready.
