A familiar face is building an arsenal of Gamecocks, just not in Columbia. Earlier this week, new Appalachian State head coach Dowell Loggains, announced the addition of three former South Carolina players in the spring transfer portal: defensive back Emory Floyd, linebacker Ronnie Porter, and defensive lineman Rondarius Porter.

While Loggains did not personally coach any of them directly, they were a part of the Gamecocks' program during Loggains' tenure as South Carolina's offensive coordinator.

Floyd is a former four-star cornerback and track athlete, appearing in seven total games across three seasons with South Carolina.

Ronnie Porter was a walk-on at South Carolina and earned a scholarship for the 2024 season. He was a consistent presence on special teams and played in all 13 games last season. His younger brother, Rondarius Porter was also a walk-on after playing at Lenoir-Rhyne and Newberry. He recorded seven tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble in eight games last season.

Loggains and App State may not be quite finished with former Gamecocks either. The Mountaineers reportedly pursued offensive lineman Kam Pringle; however, he ultimately committed to Syracuse.
