South Carolina football is nearing the end of the spring practice, which will end with the annual Garnet and Black game on April 18 at 7:00 p.m. EST in Williams-Brice Stadium. Head coach Shane Beamer has been preparing for the annual spring game but also for what is to come in the the following football season.
The spring season is not just a time for new players to get acclimated to the system of whatever program they have joined but also a time for players within the program to work their way up the depth chart. It is also a time for players to see if they want to enter the transfer portal or not.
South Carolina has been fortunate not to lose too many players to the spring transfer portal. At first, they had only lost EDGE Wendell Gregory to the portal, but today, they lost a second player.
NEW: South Carolina CB Emory Floyd plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, @Hayesfawcett3 reports.

South Carolina loses Emory Floyd to the spring transfer portal
Emory Floyd was a former 4-star high school recruit coming into South Carolina, who, unfortunately, just has not been able to pan out for the Gamecocks. In his first season in 2022, Floyd only appeared in two games against Georgia State and Georgia but didn't record any stats, however, he was named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll even after redshirting.
In his second season, Floyd saw a little more time on the field in three games against Furman, Mississippi State, and Kentucky, and this time recorded two tackles and one pass breakup A hamstring injury limited Floyd this past season as he played in just two games again against Katron and Ole Miss and yet again did not record any stats.
Floyd was also on the South Carolina track and field team, running in the 60m indoors and 100m and 200m outdoors. Now that Floyd is in the transfer portal, the safety is a little smaller at South Carolina, but that secondary is pretty stacked, with a lot of younger players coming back this season.
