The South Carolina women's basketball program is beginning to firm up its 2026-27 schedule. The Gamecocks are set to tip off in November, and there are still new non-conference matchups being announced with the season tipping off in less than a few months.
This week, South Carolina added two more additional non-conference games to its schedule. On Dec. 16, the Gamecocks will play Albany at home. Albany is coached by a former women's basketball player that several South Carolina fans will recognize. 2026 will be Albany head coach Kelly Morrone's first season with the Great Danes.

Morrone's name likely rings a bell, since she played guard for the Gamecocks from 1999-2004. She helped lead South Carolina to two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances in 2002 and 2003. The Gamecocks made it to the Elite Eight in 2002, as the Gamecocks fell 77-68 to Duke.
During her South Carolina career, she averaged 8.4 points per game with 2.9 assists and 2.4 rebounds a game. She also ranks third all-time in South Carolina history in career three-point percentage (36.6%), three-pointers made (238) and three-point attempts (650).
She started her coaching career at University of Buffalo in 2005, and was an assistant at various stops before getting her first head coaching job at John Carroll in 2013. She was then hired by Merrimack College before getting hired by Albany this offseason. At Merrimack, she compiled a 74-92 record across her six seasons there.
The Great Danes had a great season last year, finishing 26-7 as America East Champions. Albany was invited to the WBIT, but lost to No. 1 seed Saint Joseph's 69-40 in the first round. South Carolina will likely be a large favorite at home.
South Carolina also added a home game against Gardner-Webb, scheduled for Dec. 28.
The Gamecocks already have several intriguing non-conference matchups on the books. South Carolina will play in-state rival Clemson on Nov. 12. The Gamecocks will also play Maryland in Paris, France on Nov. 2, North Carolina on Nov. 8, USC in Greenville on Nov. 15, UConn on Nov. 24 at Mohegan Sun Arena, and on the road against Duke on Dec. 3, part of the annual ACC-SEC Challenge.
The Gamecocks will take on Audi Crooks and Oklahoma State on Dec. 6, and South Carolina will open SEC play against Alabama at home on Dec. 31. Fans can get a first look at South Carolina during its September exhibition against College of Charleston next month, too.
