For fans looking to watch Dawn Staley and the South Carolina women's basketball team, you won't have to wait until the season starts in November. That's because the Gamecocks will be suiting up to play the College of Charleston during an exhibition game in September.

South Carolina announced that the Gamecocks would be playing during this year's The LinkU's Invitational, hosted in Charleston. The Gamecock women will play against Charleston following two men's games. The men's games include Vanderbilt vs. Virginia and The Citadel vs. College of Charleston. The games will be held on Sunday, Sept. 27.

The Gamecock women will be the final game following both men's games, with tip off set for 5 p.m. ET. As for the venue, it will be a unique one, as the host stadium is Credit One Stadium, an outdoor stadium venue that hosts events like concerts and tennis tournaments throughout the year.

“Every season we are looking to work with groups committed to growing women’s basketball, and we’ve found them in this event,” South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley said in the school's official release. “A unique venue for basketball and VIP experience packages that provide opportunities to enjoy the best that Charleston has to offer – what more could fans ask for? For our Charleston FAMS, it will be great to visit them for a game to repay them for all their drives to Columbia throughout the season.”

This should be a great chance for Gamecock fans to get a first look at Coach Staley's 2026-27 team before the regular season tips off. South Carolin has huge expectations entering this season, as the Gamecocks return several stars from last season and added big-name pieces from the recruiting trail.

Some of the biggest names returning from last year's squad include Joyce Edwards, Tessa Johnson and Chloe Kitts. Coach Staley also added the likes of Texas star guard Jordan Lee, former Tennessee signee Oliviyah Edwards and French basketball star Justine Loubens.

Following the Gamecocks' exhibition game, South Carolina will open with non-conference games in early November. The Gamecocks will play Big Ten opponent Maryland in Paris, France on Nov. 2, North Carolina from the ACC on Nov. 8, USC in Greenville on Nov. 15, UConn on Nov. 24 at Mohegan Sun Arena, and on the road against Duke on Dec. 3, part of the annual ACC-SEC Challenge.
