The South Carolina-Clemson rivalry is one of the biggest in sports, and especially in the Palmetto State. But one sport that the Gamecocks have dominated in recent years is women's basketball, thanks to South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley.
During the 2026-27 schedule, the Gamecocks will be seeking a 16th straight victory over the Tigers in the annual rivalry series. And we now know when that game will take place during the upcoming season.
Clemson and South Carolina announced that this year's game will be held early in the season, on Thursday, November 12, 2026. It will be held at Clemson's Littlejohn Coliseum. A tip-off time and television schedule is expected to be set at a later date.

This year's game will take place just a couple weeks before Shane Beamer and Dabo Swinney square off in South Carolina-Clemson on the football field. Although South Carolina's women's team hasn't released its full non-conference schedule, the Gamecocks will play Big Ten opponent Maryland in Paris, France on Nov. 2, North Carolina from the ACC on Nov. 8, USC in Greenville on Nov. 15, UConn on Nov. 24 at Mohegan Sun Arena, and on the road against Duke on Dec. 3, part of the annual ACC-SEC Challenge.
Last season, Staley and the Gamecocks defeated the Tigers 65-37 at home in just the third game of the season. South Carolina star Joyce Edwards, who is set to return to the Gamecocks in 2026, led the way with 18 points. Her teammate, fellow returnee Tessa Johnson, added 13 points.
South Carolina returns both Edwards and Johnson this year, but also added stars like Jordan Lee from Texas and former five-star signee Oliviyah Edwards this offseason. The Gamecocks are the favorite to earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament once again, and are expected to make a deep run with national title aspirations.
The Gamecocks are expected to be heavily favored in the matchup once again, but Clemson had a solid season last year. The Tigers, led by second-year head coach Shawn Poppie, made it to their first NCAA Tournament since 2019. Clemson earned a No. 8 seed after finishing 21-12 on the season. The Tigers lost in overtime to No. 8 USC 71-67 in the first round.
The 15 straight victories for South Carolina over its in-state rival is considered one of the longest streaks across all major sports in the Palmetto State rivalry. In football, South Carolina won five straight games from 2009-2013, and the Tigers won seven straight from 1934-1940.
Although it will be an early-season matchup for both teams, the game should be a good learning experience for both squads.
