Just in time for South Carolina to open the 2026 football season against Kent State next weekend, Nike has dropped a brand new uniform combination for the Gamecocks. South Carolina football unveiled the new all-black uniforms that the Gamecocks will wear this season.
Complete with black helmets; black tops and black pants, the new blackout uniforms look a bit sleeker than the previous Under Armour threads:

For the most part, the black uniforms look similar to the ones South Carolina wore with Under Armour. The biggest change seems to be that the garnet on the jersey is sleeker and shinier, and the helmets are reflective as opposed to matte:

The Gamecocks revealed their primary uniform combinations for home and away games in July, choosing an all-garnet combination for home games, and an all-white combo for away ones. Although that can change depending on what the opposing team wear. For example, for the Gamecocks' road game against Florida on Oct. 10, the Gators will be wearing all-white throwback jerseys. So South Carolina will likely wear all-garnet for that one.
For South Carolina looking for big changes with the new Nike uniforms, Gamecock Athletic Director indicated that South Carolina won't stray too far from what fans are used to.
“Our brand identity is so strong that we didn’t want to bastardize that and just completely throw everything on its head,” Donati told Gamecock Central''s Wes Mitchell over the summer. “The changes you’ll see will be subtle, but there will be changes. That’s one thing Nike does really well, is you get a chance to kind of really mix it up. In future years, I think there’s going to be a willingness to maybe do something a little more extreme from uniform to uniform.”
South Carolina's entire athletics department switched from Under Armour to Nike just last month, meaning that every sports team received new uniforms from the school's new outfitter.
Previously, South Carolina was outfitted as an Under Armour school dating back to 2007, and the school's deal with them was set to expire June 30 and was not renewed. South Carolina's social media team also released an awesome hype video just for the uniform unveiling:

South Carolina is expected to bring in $70 million in product revenue with the switch to Nike, which can now also sell Nike fan clothing and other items. In comparison, South Carolina's previous deal with Under Armour was valued at around $44.5 million in product.
The Gamecocks were one of the last SEC schools to be paired with Under Armour, as Auburn switched to Nike last summer in July 2025.
As for which game South Carolina will wear the all-black uniforms, picking a night game at Williams-Brice Stadium against a big opponent wouldn't be a bad idea.
The Gamecocks' first night game will come in Week 2 when South Carolina hosts Towson at 7 p.m. ET.
