For many folks across the country, they might be busy preparing their Memorial Day Weekend plans. With the arrival of the first major holiday of the summer, we are officially closer to the 2026 college football season kicking off.
With the season just over a few months away, the folks at On3 Sports recently released their list of the top 100 players in college football. Checking in at No. 4 overall is none other than Gamecock star EDGE rusher Dylan Stewart.
Stewart, who will be a junior heading into the 2026 season, has accounted for 56 total tackles with 11 sacks and six forced fumbles over his first two seasons at South Carolina On3 calls the Washington, D.C. product one of the nation's most impactful players:
"While some of his peers have been more productive as underclassmen, Dylan Stewart is an undeniable havoc goblin," Clark Brooks writes of the Gamecock star. At 6-foot-5 245 pounds, there should be zero debate on if his frame, mass, or wingspan (that’s reportedly like 81 inches) is not worth a high draft pick.
Frankly, his length and launch are elite. Over the last two years, he’s accumulated 88 pressures and forced six fumbles. The Gamecock is an undeniable force and key chess piece in every game he plays. And even after a “down” year, his tools and traits have him poised to be among the most impactful defenders in college football."
Stewart was limited last season while dealing with a back injury, as he had 4.5 sacks on the season compared to his 6.5 as a true freshman. Although the injury largely kept him out of spring practices with the Gamecocks, head coach Shane Beamer has stated that the star is ahead of schedule with his rehab in recent months.
On3 also included some other Gamecock players on its Top-100 list. Here's where the rest of the Gamecock players ended up:
- QB LaNorris Sellers: No. 22 overall
- OT Jacarrius Peak: No. 30 overall
If Stewart can have the type of season he is predicted to in 2026, he could end up being one of the Top-Five NFL Draft picks for 2027, as well.
