South Carolina Gamecock star earns spot on Team USA for FIBA World Cup

The Gamecocks will be represented at the upcoming 2026 FIBA 3x3 World Cup.

South Carolina Gamecock rising junior Joyce Edwards will get to represent the United States in the upcoming 2026 FIBA 3×3 World Cup next month. Edwards was selected to represent the team June 1-7 in Warsaw, Poland as it seeks to win a gold medal. 

Edwards helped the 3x3 team get a couple of victories earlier this month in the FIBA 3x3 Series. In two games against Team Germany and Poland, she scored 10 points, adding another 10 boards last month as the United States beat both teams. The wins helped Team USA qualify for the World Cup. 

The Gamecock forward has represented the red, white and blue seven times throughout her career, dating back to her career as a high school player in 2023. She has had the most success with FIBA's 5x5 events, winning three gold medals for Team USA during the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup, 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup and 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup.

Edwards will be joined by three other collegiate players, in LSU's MiLaysia Fulwiley and Mikaylah Williams, as well as Oklahoma's Sahara Williams. All three players will attend training camp in New York from May 24-25 before heading to Warsaw ahead of the tournament start date of June 1. 

The 2026 FIBA 3×3 World Cup will have teams represening 20 countries, and the format is four five-team pools with a round-robin format starting June 1. The bracket will begin knockout rounds on June 5.

12:55 pm ET: USA vs Hungary

2:45 pm ET:  USA vs Australia

12:30 pm ET: USA vs Mongolia

2:20 pm ET: USA vs Spain

Knockout Rounds

June 5

Play begins at Noon ET. 

June 6

The quarterfinals begin at 11:00 am ET. 

June 7

The semifinals begin at 11:00 am ET. The third-place game will start at 1:35 pm ET, with the gold medal game set to tip off at 2:45.
