The clock is ticking on one of South Carolina's biggest quarterback targets, and the four-star 2026 signal caller has officially confirmed a date for his commitment. Landon Duckworth will announce his commitment on July 18. The Jackson, Alabama standout will choose between two SEC powerhouses: South Carolina and Auburn. He originally held offers from national powerhouses from Georgia, Oregon, Texas A&M, Florida, North Carolina, and Arkansas. Duckworth trimmed his list down to South Carolina and Auburn after making official visits and then making additional unofficial visits to both schools last month.

Duckworth is quite familiar with the Gamecocks, as this is his second round of being recruited by the program. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound QB was originally committed to South Carolina early in his recruitment but backed off his pledge last June after nearly a year on the commit list. Now, with a new offensive coordinator in Columbia, the Gamecocks are back in the mix for Duckworth. Coach Mike Shula, who took over OC duties, has made Duckworth a top priority. Shula has put in the effort to build a strong connection with the Alabama standout since stepping into the role.
In 2023, Duckworth put up massive numbers as a junior with 3,109 passing yards, 34 passing touchdowns, nine interceptions. He also rushed for 631 yards with 12 rushing touchdowns in 14 games. Duckworth is ranked No. 66 overall and is the No. 6 quarterback in the 2026 class, according to On3 Industry Rankings.
Gamecock Nation will be watching closely on July 18.
