South Carolina Football: #WelcomeHome; Another commitment makes five commitments in two weeks
By Kevin Miller
South Carolina football is rolling in recruiting. For most of the 2024 cycle, the Gamecocks were ranked in the top-10 nationally in high school recruiting. They recently fell out of the top-10, but they are almost assuredly about to jump back up as four prospects pledged themselves to South Carolina over the last two weeks.
That number grew to five late on Saturday night.
Coach Shane Beamer tweeted out #WelcomeHome and also hinted that the newest Gamecock commitment was on his official visit this weekend by saying that he was having fun on the official visit weekend and that he was “not the only one.”
Three of the five recent commitments have gone public. 4-star running back Matthew Fuller, 5-star punter Mason Love, and 3-star linebacker Fred “JayR” Johnson made their commitments known, leaving two mystery #WelcomeHome commitments still floating out there. Based on Beamer’s tweets about the commitments, one was likely on an official visit during the first two weekends of the month, and one was on his official visit this weekend.
The opening two weekends were loaded with visitors, but just ten of those visitors are uncommitted. Those ten are 4-star safeties Malcolm Ziglar and Kaj Sanders, 4-star athletes Jalewis Solomon and Kam Mikell, 4-star defensive end DD Holmes, 4-star receiver Parker Livingstone, 4-star running back Braylen Russell, 3-star safety Kaleb Harris, and 3-star defensive tackles Nnamdi Ogboko and D’Nas White.
5-star EDGE Dylan Stewart headlines a group of big-time visitors from this weekend that also includes 4-star running back Daniel Hill, 4-star wide receiver Jonathan Paylor, and 3-star safety/linebacker David Bucey.
One player from each of those lists appear to be the reasons for Beamers’ tweets. Kaleb Harris and David Bucey are on commit watch, and the rest all appear to have South Carolina football in their top-3 schools, with several of them publicly acknowledging that the Gamecocks are leading the pack.
It is unclear, when South Carolina football fans might officially learn the identities of the two mystery commitments.
