The South Carolina Gamecocks suffered their second loss of the season against Ole Miss last weekend and are officially 3-2 on the season. With two losses on the season, the odds for the Gamecocks to make the College Football Playoff this season have dwindled, but they are not zero. USC would have to win out in order to give themselves the best chance to make the playoff, but two losses to the only two ranked teams they have played so far is not a great look.

The Gamecocks are coming off a game where they put up just three points and just 313 yards of total offense. The passing game was the worst part of the offense, with LaNorris Seller going just 20-for-32 for 162 yards and an interception in his return to the field after suffering an injury against LSU three weeks ago.

The play of the team as a whole was the problem, as the defense allowed 27 points and 425 total yards of offense to Ole Miss. The biggest problem the team dealt with was undisciplined play. The Gamecocks had four offsides calls on third down that gave the Rebels new life on many drives and an unsportsmanlike penalty that kept the defense on the field even after getting a stop.

Playing undisciplined football won't help the Gamecocks try and upset No. 7 Alabama this week in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide are also coming off a rough week after being upset by Vanderbilt when they had just moved to the No. 1 spot in the top 25.
