Former South Carolina Gamecocks star A'ja Wilson has already solidified herself as one of the greatest players in women's basketball history. And the Las Vegas Aces star is on the cusp of reaching a historic milestone for just the second time in her career.Â
With six regular-season games remaining for Wilson and the Aces, she needs just 92 points to reach her second 1,000-point season. To put that even further into perspective, she would need to average just 16 points per game to reach that. Wilson became the first-ever player to score 1,000 points in a single season back in 2024.
She should have no problems doing just that. The Aces star, who was a former No. 1 overall pick from the 2018 WNBA Draft, is having a historic season so far, averaging 25.9 points per game. She leads the league in scoring, as she is also getting 9.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists per game. She is also cleaning up defensively too, averaging two blocks a game and 1.4 steals per contest. As the Aces look to defend their WNBA title from last season, she has Las Vegas sitting at 25-13 and in third place in the Western Conference.Â
A’ja is 92 points away from reaching 1,000 for the season. She needs to average 16ppg for the remaining 6 games of the regular season to reach this milestone for the second time.

The next chance for Wilson to add to her point total is on Sunday, Aug. 23, when Las Vegas plays the Toronto Tempo on the road. The Aces then return home to face the Tempo before two games against the Seattle Storm on Sept. 17 and 20, a home and away contest a-piece. The Aces then close the regular season with a home game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Sept. 22 before closing out the regular season on the road against the Phoenix Mercury.Â
If she is able to reach it, it would mark the first time in WNBA history that a player has reached 1,000 points twice. Her reaching the milestone might be enough to make her the favorite to win the WNBA MVP, although Minnesota star rookie Olivia Miles and Fever guard Caitlin Clark are also in the mix for the award. Wlson and her Aces teammate, Jackie Young also made history just last month. The two teammates became the first WNBA teammates to each score 25 points or more in the same game a total of 10 times.
The Aces have already clinched a playoff spot, as the Lynx appear to be the biggest threat to Wilson and Las Vegas' chances of repeating. Wilson is already a four-time WNBA and eight-time league All-Star. Becoming the second player in league history to reach 1000 points—with her being the first to do so in 2024 would solidify her status as the Greatest of All Time, even if it already was there.
