Two former South Carolina women's basketball standouts are suiting up once again, but this time it's on the 3X3 stage. Destanni Henderson and Bree Hall have officially joined the 3XBA, a professional women's 3X3 league affiliated with FIBA. The duo will compete in the Spokane Tournament, set for June 25-28. According to 3XBA officials, the Spokane event will be “televised and live-streamed widely,” though broadcast details are still to come.
The 3XBA boasts itself as the "first and only professional women's FIBA 3X3 league and development program in the United States." And while full rosters and schedules haven't been finalized yet, the winning team in Spokane will earn a spot in the FIBA 3X3 Women's Series event in Edmonton this August.
Gamecock roots run deep in 3X3. Kaela Davis competed last year, while Allisha Gray helped Team USA capture the gold medal in the inaugural 3X3 Tournament in Tokyo. More recently, Sania Feagin claimed a gold medal at the 2023 FIBA U23 3X3 World Cup, and current Gamecocks Chloe Kitts, Tessa Johnson, Joyce Edwards, and Maddy McDaniel earned third place at the 3X Nationals in April.
Bree Hall was selected 20th overall in the WNBA Draft earlier this year by the Indiana Fever, but she was waived after the team's second preseason game. Destanni Henderson ironically also went 20th in the 2022 Draft and was also taken by Indiana, but subsequently had stints with the LA Sparks, Phoenix Mercury, and Atlanta Dream. Henderson recently played overseas in Turkey but was not invited to a WNBA training camp this summer.
