"This was a difficult decision, but after discussing this with my family, this is the best course of action for my future," Eaglestaff said. "Thank you to Coach Paris and the South Carolina staff for recruiting me during this process."
Eaglestaff is one of the most dynamic scorers in the transfer portal, averaging 18.9 points per game last season, and was expected to bring a high-level offensive boost to the Gamecocks' backcourt.
With his decommitment from South Carolina, Eaglestaff immediately becomes one of the top names now available from the transfer portal again. His scoring ability, perimeter shooting, and size at the guard position make him a coveted target for major programs.
Lamont Paris will now look to fill the void with other portal options and continue to shape next season's roster.
