The South Carolina 2025 football schedule has officially been released
South Carolina didn't make the College Football Playoff this season, but it wasn't for a lack of trying. The Gamecocks played seven AP Top 25 ranked opponents and six CFP Top 25 ranked opponents and beat four of them.
The 2024 regular season, however, is over now and getting further and further in the rearview mirror. Luckily, for fans who are sad, college football will be coming to an end in just a few weeks, and some conferences are giving them a pick-me-up. Both the Big Ten and SEC released schedules for each team in their conference, and while they may look daunting now, if there is one thing we learned this season, even Goliath can fall to David.
The Gamecocks will play a very similar schedule in 2025 compared to 2024 when it comes to SEC play. South Carolina will actually play the same SEC opponents next season as they did this season. Their non-conference schedule looks a bit more enticing with two ACC schools on the schedule with Virginia Tech adn Clemson.
South Carolina and Virginia Tech will kick off Week One with Aflac Kickoff in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Gamecock faithful should travel well with a shorter trip on the road. The Gamecocks will then play their second non-conference game, but their first home opener as they welcome South Carolina State to Columbia.
Then SEC play will begin as the Gamecocks open against Vanderbilt, this time at home, but with the way the Commodores play this season, they could have found something special going forward. Notable games on the SEC slate in 2025, starting at home will be welcoming Oklahoma, Alabama Kentucky, and Clemson to Williams-Brice Stadium.
However, the Gamecocks will have to go and play in some tough environments, like Tiger Stadium against LSU and Kyle Field against Texas A&M. South Carolina should have a lot of momentum going into the 2025 season, especially with the way they finished the 2024 regular season. If the Gamecocks can get a win in their bowl game against No. 20 Illinois, it could truly shoot them into 2025. on a high note.
With the uncertainty of how opponents will play in 2025, especially in the SEC, where there is no easy team to play, the Gamecocks have a good outlook for the College Football Playoff next year. As the committee proved this season, simply win and get in.
