Unfortunately, they never got the chance to, as the Gamecocks were left out of the playoff, but that was known last week when they received a ranking of No. 14. So, with no playoff bid, the Gamecocks were waiting to see which bowl game they were be selected by and they got a good one.
South Carolina is heading down to sunny Orlando, Florida, the land of Disney, to take on Illinois in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl. This is the first time the Gamecocks will return to Orlando since 2013 when they played Miami (Ohio) in the Tangerine Bowl.

South Carolina ended the regular season playing their best football, and fans were getting behind them full force. The Gamecocks had a real shot at the College Football Playoff towards the end of the season, so the fans are going to be there to support their guys, whether it is the CFP or a big bowl game.
