South Carolina women's basketball transfer Sakima Walker is headed to the west coast. Walker announced on social media that she had committed to Cal's women's basketball program for next season. Cal will be Walker's third stop in her collegiate career, following a stint at Rutgers before coming to South Carolina. She enters as a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility left.

The 6-foot-5 forward played 15 games as a Gamecock last season, averaging 1.4 points and 0.7 rebounds. For the previous season, she appeared in 31 games, starting once, and averaging 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds. In those two years with South Carolina, the Gamecocks won a national championship and finished as national runners-up this year.
Walker is the first of what it to come at Cal from the transfer portal additions for Cal head coach Charmin Smith this offseson. Smith has had success with transfers, fueling Cal's 25-9 record and NCAA Tournament appearance this past season.
