College football recruiting never sleeps, and that includes for the South Carolina Gamecocks. South Carolina is in the heart of spring football, but got some great news on the recruiting trail with respect to a five-star EDGE rusher.

The Gamecocks have secured an official visit for 4-star EDGE rusher KJ Green, set for Friday, June 12. Per Hale McGranahan and Tom Loy of 247Sports, the Gamecocks will host Green on an unofficial visit sometime in April.

Green, out of Stone Mountain, Ga., is the No. 9 ranked EDGE rusher from the class of 2027, per the 247Sports Composite. He is also ranked the No. 7 overall prospect from his home state of Georgia. He holds plenty of offers South Carolina will be competing against, like ones from Georgia, Miami, Texas and Alabama, among others.

South Carolina's 2027 class features just three verbal commits, in three-star safety Jernard Albright, three-star receiver Jaiden Kelly-Murray and three-star cornerback Aamaury Fountain. It is currently ranked 31st in the country per 247Sports, and checks in ninth in the SEC ahead of both Alabama and LSU. Kelly-Murray committed to South Carolina's 2027 class just last week.

There's certainly a long way to go in Green's recruiting process, but South Carolina fans can get excited about the elite pass-rusher visiting next month and later this summer.

According to 247Sports' reporting, Green also has official visits set for both Miami on May 29 and Alabama on June 18.
