It was the first offer he made public on his social media.

Head coach Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks coaching staff are busy on the recruiting trail. He staff recently offered the younger brother of a first-round pick from the 2026 NFL Draft, and has landed a number of verbal commitments in recent weeks.

Earlier this week, South Carolina offered a prospect who is coached by a former All-SEC Gamecock in "Ace" Sanders. Braylon Smith, a lineman for Bayshore High School in Bradenton, Fla., was one of the first schools to offer Smith. His coach, Sanders, also posted about the offer on social media:

Sanders is the head coach at Bayshore, where he has been since the summer of 2024. The coach played with current Gamecock defensive line coach Travian Robertson in 2010 and 2011. When Sanders played for South Carolina, he was both a receiver and return specialist.

From 2010-2012, Sander had 99 receptions for 1,230 yards with 13 touchdowns. He also had 53 punt returns for 594 yards, including three that were returned for touchdowns. He was a second-team All-SEC player in 2012, and was named the conference's Special Teams Player of the Year the same season.

Sanders was drafted in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He spent just two seasons in the league, finishing his career with 57 receptions for 539 yards, including another 458 return yards.

At Bayshore, Sanders' teams haven't had a season finishing above .500 just yet.

While it's obviously still early in Smith's recruiting process, it would be pretty cool for him to end up on his coach's former team. Per his X page, he also holds offers from the likes of Miami, Pitt, Florida State and Western Kentucky.
