South Carolina must go all-in to land nation's top WR transfer for LaNorris Sellers

LaNorris Sellers is going to be something special next year and if the Gamecocks can land one wide receiver, it could be big for the young quarterback.

LaNorris Sellers truly became one of the best, if not the best, college football players by the end of the season, playing his best football at the right time of the season. The young quarterback finished the season with 2,274 yards and 17 touchdowns, as well as 655 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns.

In just his first season as a starter, Sellers has already won the SEC Freshman of the Year Award, was named the Maxwell Player of the Week after his performance against Missouri, and was a two-time winner of SEC Freshman and Offensive Player of the Week.

For the 2025 season, though, Sellers should and will take steps forward, but he needs help in order to do that. South Carolina has already lost four wide receivers to the transfer portal but, luckily, has retained their top pass-catchers, Nyck Harbor and Jared Brown, so far since the regular season has ended.

For Sellers to be able to grow in 2025, he is going to need help from his receiving core, which is where the transfer portal enters play. One of the top wide receivers in the portal right now is KC Concepcion out of NC State, who in his freshman season put up over 80 passing yards and 300 rushing yards as well as 10 receiving touchdowns.

In the transfer portal, Concepcion is rated as a four-star wide receiver and ranked the No. 5 pass-catcher in the portal. He was named the ACC Rookie of the Year in 2023 and has officially narrowed down his choices of schools to six: Miami, Florida State, Colorado, Alabama, Texas A&M, and, of course, South Carolina.

Sellers showed that he is a powerhouse when it comes to running the ball, but if he wants to make sure he stays healthy for the whole season, he can't take so many hits as he does. Of course, the quarterback-designed runs will still be a part of a game plan, but to have a wide receiver like Concepcion, who has speed and great hands, could give Sellers more options to throw to.

Bringing in Concepcion could also be big for the receivers sticking around. Right now, Harbor is garnering a lot of attention from defenses, as well as Brown, when he is healthy, so adding in another elite receiver could force defenses to play honestly and open up more for everyone.
