On Thursday, On3's Sam Spiegelman predicted that the Gamecocks had a 91.9% chance to land the signal-caller. The outlet rates Meyer III as a three-star quarterback prospect, and the No. 56 overall quarterback for 2027.Â
Beamer getting Meyer is a big get for South Carolina's 2027 class. Previously, the Waxahachie, Texas quarterback was verbally committed to TCU since Aug. 2025. But a few weeks after South Carolina offered the quarterback, Meyer decommitted from the Horned Frogs in February earlier this year. Meyer was on-campus in Columbia just this past weekend, part of several prospects visiting South Carolina during its spring football practices.
Not to mention South Carolina beat out offers from several other Texas schools like Baylor, Houston, Texas Tech, SMU and SEC programs such as Ole Miss, Arkansas and Mississippi State.Â

Per MaxPreps, Meyer has thrown for 8,773 yards with 120 touchdowns and 17 interceptions over three seasons.Â
With Meyer's commitment, South Carolina's 2027 class now includes four members, and Meyer is the first signal-caller in the class. Beamer's class ranks 37th nationally, and 12th in the SEC.
Congrats to Beamer and company on landing their newest quarterback!
