Player Breakdown
LaNorris Sellers
The redshirt sophomore will be one of the hottest topics at SEC Media Days, as he enters the 2025 season as a legitimate Heisman Trophy contender. After earning FWAA National Freshman Offensive Player of the Year and SEC Freshman of the Year honors last season, Sellers is already creating buzz. He completed 66% of his passes for 2,534 yards and 18 touchdowns, while rushing for 674 yards and seven scores. As starting QB, Sellers has an 8-4 record, with two 300-yard passing games and two 100-yard rushing games.
Nick Barrett
A redshirt senior and veteran leader in the trenches, Barrett has played in a total of 39 games over his four seasons as a Gamecock. He appeared in five games last year, while taking a redshirt season, but remains an integral part of the defense. The five-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection was also recently inducted into the Hampshire Honor Society. Barrett also received the 205 South Carolina Spirit Award for the defense, an honor he shared with DQ Smith.
DQ Smith
Smith is one of the most experienced players on the Gamecock roster. He has started 34 of 37 games since he arrived in Columbia. Smith has also racked up 164 career tackles, four interceptions, and ten pass breakups. He is a returning leader on the secondary and brings consistency and playmaking ability to the defensive backfield.
Beamer Ball
As Shane Beamer enters his fifth season at the helm of South Carolina Football, he has already cemented himself in Gamecock history. With a 29-22 record, he now holds the most wins by any South Carolina Football coach through four seasons. Beamer has also taken the Gamecocks to three bowl games in his short tenure and is coming off of his best season yet. The 2024 squad finished 9-4 (5-3 SEC) and ended the year ranked No. 19 in the final national polls, the highest the program has finished since 2013.
