The South Carolina baseball team is making some changes to its schedule this week due to weather forecasted in Columbia. Although new head coach Kevin Schnall's team was scheduled to play the Duke Blue Devils in a fall scrimmage on Sunday, the game has been pushed up to Saturday.

The Gamecocks will instead play the Blue Devils on Saturday, Oct. 31. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. The game will take place at Fifth Third Park in Spartanburg, S.C.

South Carolina will also be scrimmaging on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 4:15 p.m. for just 4.5 innings.

The Gamecocks have played three other fall scrimmages so far. South Carolina got a 15-2 win over High Point on Oct. 2, and defeated College of Charleston 8-2 on the 16th. South Carolina also got a 10-3 win over Winthrop last Friday.

The expectations for Schnall and the Gamecocks are high even as he enters his first season in Columbia. After spending the last two seasons as the head coach at Coastal Carolina, he compiled a 93-36 overall record with the Chanticleers. He also led Coastal to a CWS Final in 2025, and was on-staff there as an assistant when Coastal won its first CWS title in 2016.

South Carolina also compiled an elite roster this offseason, as Schnall utilized the transfer portal to land the likes of Conner Shouse from Texas Tech, Bristol Carter from Auburn, Wake Forest stars Andrew and Luke Costello and JD Stein, as well as Coastal pitchers Colby Richardson, Luke Jones and Dominick Carbone.

The Gamecocks have yet to release their full schedule for 2027 except for the SEC schedule. Coach Schnall's team will take on the Vanderbilt Commodores as part of a three-game series in Founders Park starting Friday, March 19.

A full non-conference schedule is expected to be released in the coming months for South Carolina.
