New South Carolina baseball head coach Kevin Schnall is starting to get some major wins on the recruiting trail. Just one day after landing Wake Forest star shortstop JD Stein, the Gamecocks added pitcher Jordan Stephens to its transfer portal class.
On Thursday afternoon, the Gamecocks added Stephens, a right-handed pitcher from Rochelle, Ga. to their roster. The former Bulldog announced his commitment on his X page:

Stephens has spent the last two seasons with the Bulldogs, helping Georgia win the SEC Tournament this season and going to the semifinals of the College World Series. As a true freshman, he played for Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Ga., where he finished with a 5.03 ERA across 17 games.
Ahead of Georgia's 2025 season, Stephens transferred to the Bulldogs. During that year as a sophomore, Stephens had a 4-0 record, including 3.92 ERA with 27 strikeouts. He also impressively held opponents to a .164 batting average.
Although Stephens didn't have the best season in 2026, finishing with a 7.85 ERA in 14 appearances, he started to find his groove towards the end of the season. One of his most impressive games was during the Bulldogs' regular season finale against Troy:

Stephens is a talented addition to South Carolina's bullpen. The pitcher has one season of eligibility remaining, so he will spend his last collegiate year with the Gamecocks. In Columbia, he could have one of his most productive seasons yet as he will join pitching coach Matt Williams, who spent the last two seasons at Coastal with Coach Schnall.
Congrats to Stephens, and welcome home!
